Officina Profumo-Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella’s Tuberosa fragrance is a sensual, persistent, floral oriental scent. The exhilarating and seductive scent evokes scenes of oriental gardens and odalisques reclining on cushions of silk. The tuberose plant is native of India and Mexico and reached Europe around 1500. The flowers grow in clusters and release their intense fragrance at sunset. Flower symbolism associates the tuberose with sensuality.

First founded in 1221 in Florence by Dominican friars creating herbal remedies to use in their monastery, Officinia Profumo Farmaceutica de Santa Maria Novella is one of the world's oldest standing pharmacies. Santa Maria Novella specializes in luxury bath and body products, as well as divine colognes still true to their centuries-old formulations. Some of their most sought-after creations include rich hand and foot creams, aromatic potpourri (still fermented in terracotta jars as it was 800 years ago!), and fragrant bath soaps. Not to mention their fragrances, which have a cult following of their own! The products are still made on-site at their own factory in Florence, Italy, never tested on animals, and made using local ingredients whenever possible. The Classy Tuberose

"SMN Tuberose eau de cologne is such a bright and fresh tuberose scent. It seems to be unfortunately discontinued but I am glad Smallflowers still had it in stock! The cologne verges on being in the vein of a grandmother perfume. Be warned she is a distinguished lady of society! This is not a full bubble-gummy or dew tuberose! This characterization lends it the classic chic air to the wearer. Tuberose being the dominant force here but you get a sparkle of the pepper and some supporting white florals like ylang-ylang, and a creamy sandalwood and resinous dry down."
