Our samples are either packaged by the perfume house, or hand-poured here at Smallflower and presented in a spray vial. Each vial is filled to a variable volume to reflect the concentration of the fragrance being sampled.
About the Fragrance:
19th century Russian chic: the scent of violet on a gentleman's neck, the bear fur coat and leather boots, the birch and fir trees in Russian forests. Based on the account of Aleksandr Pushkin's fateful duel in 1837 St. Petersburg, Aleksandr is a sophisticated violet leather fragrance for everyone.
On a frosty winter afternoon, a fiery gentleman finishes his toilette by dabbing on a preparation of neroli and violet. He draws down his cuffs, dons a heavy fur and strides out in polished leather boots. As he rides off on his sledge, the woody scent of fir fills the air. Beyond the snow-laden trees, on a clearing bathed in amber light, his fateful duel awaits.
The fragrance opens with luminous neroli and aldehydes, sharpened by an iced vodka accord and the green snap of birch leaves. The heart unfolds into violet leaf and orris, enriched by smooth cognac and a supple Russian leather accord. In the base, fir balsam and birch tar create a smoky forest depth, layered over oakmoss and an animalic musk accord for a finish that feels both regal and untamed.
